Professor Alice Roberts and Spark Media have teamed up for a new hybrid series for Channel 4 that merges Ancient History and Travelogue. Alice plots a train route exploring great monuments, historical excavations and archaeological museums as well as sampling contemporary local life. She meets experts who are based in each town or city and finds out about the past, the rulers and the lives of ordinary people from thousands of years ago.
